Dancing in Poland as an Expat — The Community Is Welcoming
Poland's social dance community is one of the most active in Central Europe. Warsaw alone has 50+ dance studios. As an expat, you'll find both Polish and international dancers — especially in beginner and intermediate groups.
Ways to Find a Dance Partner
1. Attend Social Dance Events (Most Effective)
Go to social dance parties — "social dance" or "impreza taneczna" in Polish. These are the best places to meet potential practice partners organically. Attend regularly (2-3 times) before expecting to find a committed practice partner.
Best venues in Warsaw:
- Bachata/salsa socials at Sala Technikum (Fridays)
- Kizomba events at Studio Sensual (Saturdays)
- Mixed social at Latin Dance clubs in Centrum
2. Facebook Groups
Polish dance Facebook groups have partner-finding posts regularly:
- "Taniec Partnerski — szukam partnera/ki" — national group
- "Bachata Warszawa" — Warsaw-specific
- "Salsa Warsaw" — regular partner posts
- "Social Dance Poland" — English-friendly
3. Dance School Partner Boards
Most studios have a physical or digital notice board for partner searches. Ask your instructor — they often know who's looking.
4. Dance Apps and Websites
- DancePlug — international, some Polish users
- Swing dance partner search on WCS Facebook groups
- Reddit r/TaniecSocial — small but active
What Level to Look For
For practice partners, aim for someone within one level of you. A significant skill gap leads to frustration on both sides. Being honest about your level is appreciated.
| Your Level | Ideal Partner Level |
|---|---|
| Beginner (0-3 months) | Beginner to low intermediate |
| Intermediate (3-12 months) | Beginner or intermediate |
| Advanced (1+ year) | Intermediate or advanced |
Language Tips for the Dance Floor

Practice Partner vs. Dance Partner
Practice partner: someone you meet outside of classes to rehearse specific moves. Usually 1-2 hours per week at a studio rental space (100-150 PLN/hour) or at home.
Performance partner: committed couple who choreograph routines. More serious commitment.
Most expats start with finding a practice partner through social dance events and work from there.
